Privilege Awakening (1 hr)

At Black Women in Charge, Inc., we pride ourselves on being self-aware of the privileges we hold within corporate America. Instead of remaining neutral in times of injustice, we consistently reallocate these advantages for the betterment of human rights. Our Privilege Awakenings are curated to provide an experience that will help you better navigate barriers others may face and revamp the role you choose to take in the fight for human rights.

Professional Development (1 hr)

Institutionalized biases can be difficult to pinpoint when it has been normalized as “just the way it is”. Through the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Professional Development workshops, our members will provide organizations with a different perspective that will help institutions make more human-rights centered decisions in schools and healthcare facilities.

Initiative- Specific (1 hr)

Black Women in Charge enters each year with an overall human-rights centered initiative. From there our three advocacy departments (Lobbying & Legislation, Public Health & Research, and Community Outreach) work on four month-increments to research and address different human rights crises that align directly with the year’s initiative. Here’s what we’ve done thus far:

1. 2020: Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department General Orders Revisions

2. 2021: Public Health

1. Food Equity (BWC’s Grocery Prescription Program)

2. Black Infant and Mother Mortality

3. Mental Health of Black Men

3. 2022: Education

4. Critical Race Theory
